WHAT are the new protocols in light of covid-19?

Client Protocols:

Please wash/sanitize hands upon entering the establishment. Mandatory face masks for all clients during the services. If the client is not wearing a mask, or does not have one, we will provide one for them at no charge. No waiting with other clients. The client is immediately brought in to their private Medical Pedicure room to begin treatment upon arrival.

Please Note: We no longer apply nail polish. Not only do we believe your “naked feet” looks best, but doing so, we avoid the spread of germs, fungus and diseases, as well as maximize the time between clients to properly clean and disinfect all areas of the treatment room.

Technician Protocols:

All Medical Nail technicians must wash their hands before and after each client. Medical Nail Technicians must dispose of Head Coverings, Gloves and Surgical face mask after every client. The treatment chair allows the Medical Nail Technician to adjust the height and position the client without touching and maintaining distancing. Before and after each client, the treatment chair is thoroughly wiped down with disinfectant wipes (arm handles, back cushion, seat cushion and leg rest). Each treatment room has 16 sets of pre-sterilized tools and drill bits, as well as being fully equipped with one-time use disposable nail files, buffers, shiny-buffers and disposable foot files. Medical tools are cleaned, placed inside an anti-germicidal barbacide liquid before being sterilized in the Medical Grade autoclave mostly seen is dentists and doctors offices. All medical nail technicians are required to wear anti-microbial scrubs, surgical face masks, face shields and head coverings. Each treatment is fully stocked with disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and paper towels to maintain the cleanliness during the pedicure as well as to get the room ready for the next client. After the pedicure, the room is swept, mopped and disinfected. Disposable tools are thrown out, while medical tools are placed to be sterilized and a brand new set will be set out for the next client.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MEDI PEDI AND TRADITIONAL PEDICURES?

While a traditional cosmetic pedicure focuses on making your toenails look as good as possible and gets rid of some dead skin, it ignores real problems and sometimes creates them. Not to mention, your feet are on display in front of all the other customers.

Unlike nail salons, our professionals are trained to examine and treat foot and nail disorders using advanced equipment and tools and the strictest hygiene protocols in the private setting of a medical clinic.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS DURING THE TREATMENT?

The medi pedi treatment is performed by Marcela Correa and her team. After an evaluation on your feet, we dedicate the first half hour to cleaning the feet and toe nails, trimming and polishing nails, and if necessary, removing calluses, corns and ingrown nails. In the last half hour, one of our technicians will finish the cleaning of your feet and remove any lingering dead skin, as well as hydrating the feet to prevent your feet from becoming dried out and cracked. The process takes about 45 minutes to 1 hr depending on the condition of the feet.

The medi pedi treatment includes:

  • A full assessment and consultation on the condition of feet, skin and toenails

  • Extensive cleaning and cleansing

  • Sanding, buffing and shaping of the nails to remove dead cells and achieve maximum comfort

  • Removal of dead skin and buffing of the feet

  • Focused therapy for one of the following conditions: nail fungus, athlete's foot, calluses, corns, cracked heels, or ingrown nails.

Note: Unlike regular salons, we do not massage your feet and we don't use water to perform the cleaning. We do not treat deep or infected ingrown nails. Please see a Podiatrist for these conditions.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A MEDI PEDI?

  1. It’s more than just cosmetic. A medical pedicures will address underlying issues with your feet, making your feet look and feel better at the same time. Foot health is our number one priority.

  2. It’s a lot more hygienic than regular pedicures. Medical pedicures focus on cleaning your feet, and follows the strictest hygiene protocols, avoiding bacterial infection.

  3. You’ve got all our attention. Because medical pedicures are a lot more in-depth than regular pedicures, our technicians have time to get to know the issues that are affecting your feet and can address them properly.

WHAT IS YOUR STANDARD FOR HYGIENE?

At Medi Pedi NYC, we have the highest standards for hygiene and sanitation. All equipment goes through autoclave sterilization, preventing the spread of germs, fungus and diseases.

IS MEDICAL PEDICURE FOR ME?

Yes! A medi-pedi is a non-invasive treatment suited for both men and women, regardless of the severity of foot conditions. However, medical pedicures are often crucial for diabetic patients, arthritis sufferers, runners, ballet and other dance professionals, athletes, professionals who need to work on their feet such as doctors, nurses, and performers, and women who wear high heels daily.

WHAT ABOUT NAIL POLISH?

We think your bare, buffed toenails look gorgeous on their own! We do not provide nor apply nail polish in order to prevent the spread of germs, fungus and diseases, as well as to maximize the time between clients to properly clean and disinfect all areas of the treatment room.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M LATE?

Unfortunately, if you are more than 15 minutes late we will not be able to guarantee your appointment and you will be charged the cancellation fee.
